The Cesky Fousek is a versatile gun dog belonging to Czechoslovakia. These dogs are wire-haired and have a beard and moustache as well (a common characteristic of wirehaired breed of dogs). History
Though the exact time of the origin of Cesky Fousek dogs is not known, they were the most popular wirehaired pointing dogs to be owned by families in the Czech and Slovakian Republics, before the First World War. However, the breed became almost extinct after the war. It was only after some time that the dogs were bred once again. In the present times, they are the second most preferred hunting dog used in the Czech and Slovakian Republics.
 
Appearance
TheCesky Fousek is a medium-sized dog, whose general appearance is indicative of strength and endurance. The head is long, lean and somewhat narrow and the muzzle is slightly longer than the skull, with the nasal bridge slightly arched. The nose is broad, with open and sensitive nostrils and has a black color. The upper lip forms a moderate overlap and the jaws are clearly defined and well muscled. The strong teeth of this dog meet in a scissors bite. The breed has almond-shaped eyes, with a benevolent expression. Cesky Fousek dogs can be dark amber to deep chestnut in color. Their chest forms a lyre shape, together with the shoulder blade.
 
Temperament
The Cesky Fousek is a smart and energetic dog with a willingness to please the owner. Being cheerful and friendly, it appreciates the company of children. The dog is very loyal and protective towards all the members of the family. Since this breed is very people-oriented, Cesky Fousek dogs are unhappy when isolated from the family. They require consistent, confident and firm leadership and should be sufficiently exercised once or twice a day. These dogs can become destructive and nervous when left without exercise or leadership for long periods. They are tolerant of other dogs and cats, if raised with them since childhood. Cesky Fousek dog breed is easy to train and receptive to training. These dogs like to bark a lot, which should be regulated.
 
Genetic Disease
There are no known genetic diseases to affect the Cesky Fousek dog breed, though these dogs may suffer from the usual health problems that are common to other dog breeds.  
 
Grooming
Cesky Fousek dogs have an easy-to-groom coat. They just need to be brushed regularly, with a firm bristled brush. These dogs should be bathed only when necessary. Rubbing with a towel or a piece of chamois will make the coat gleam. Check the feet of the dog, particularly after it has been exercising or working. The ears are to be examined regularly. The breed is an average shedder.
