- There is another way you can take pressure off your lower back. In this case also, you will be required to lie on your back on the floor and keep a pillow under your head. This time, keep your hips and knees bent, while placing the feet on a chair.
- Applying heat to the lower back can also help alleviate the pain. For the purpose, you can make use of hot water bottles or heating pads. Use heat for 20 to 30 minutes at a time.
- Potato poultice has been found to be very effective in treating lower back pain. Boil unpeeled potatoes and mash them thoroughly. Spread them on thick gauze, adding another sheet of gauze on top. - At times when you have to stand for long periods, try to rest one foot on a low stool, switching it with the other every 5 to 15 minutes. This will relieve the pressure on your lower back.
