Does the hesitation come from absolutely no knowledge on how to make brown rice? If yes, then go through the following lines and get detailed instructions to help you out.
Brown Rice Recipe
Ingredients
- 1 cup Rice
- Bowl, for soaking rice
- Baking Dish
- 1 tsp Olive Oil
- 1 tsp Salt
- Chicken, cooked & diced (optional)
- Veggies, cooked & diced (optional)
- Mushrooms, cooked & diced (optional)
Instructions (Stove-top Rice)
- First of all, you need to put the rice in a bowl, add enough cold water to submerge the rice and then rinse it well.
- Drain the rice and then add cool water to the bowl, again enough to submerge the rice. Let the rice soak for 30 minutes and then drain.
- Place a 2-quart pot on a burner, turned to medium heat, and coat it with a teaspoon of olive oil.
- After the oil becomes hot, add brown rice to the pot and keep on stirring it for the next 2 or 3 minutes, until it starts smelling good.
- Add 2 cups of water and 1 teaspoon of salt to the rice and mix well. Now, turn the burner to high heat and keep on stirring the rice.
- As soon as the water comes to a boil, turn the heat to low and place a lid on the pot, covering it tightly.
- Let the brown rice simmer for 40 minutes. Now, turn off the burner, but don't remove the pot from it. Let the rice sit quietly for another 15 minutes.
- Finally, remove the lid from the pot and using a fork, fluff up the rice. Add chicken, veggies or mushrooms, if desired, and serve hot.
Instructions (Baked Rice)
- First of all, you need to put the rice in a bowl, add enough cold water to submerge the rice and then rinse it well.
- Drain the rice and then add cool water to the bowl, again enough to submerge the rice. Let the rice soak for 1 hour and then drain.

- Cover the baking dish with two layers of heavy aluminum foil and place it on the middle rack of the oven.
- Bake the rice for an hour and then remove the baking dish from oven. Now, using a fork, fluff up the rice.
- Add chicken, veggies or mushrooms, if desired, and cover with the foil once again. After letting the rice sit for 10 minutes, serve.
