Cleaning Makeup Brushes
  • For cleaning your brushes, you need to simply wipe them with a clean and soft cloth first, to remove the excess make up.
  • After this, you can take a cleanser and work lather with the brushes. Be careful, not to damage the bristles of the brush.
  • After this, wash the brushes under running water. You can use slightly warm water to clean your brushes as well, since it will easily remove makeup from them.
  • Make sure the water you wash the brushed with, becomes colorless, as this indicates that the brushes do not have any makeup left on them.
  • Now, put the brushes in a secure place to air dry, such that the bristles hang freely over the edge. You can also pat dry the brushes, using a dry towel.
Two More Options
  • You can even try vinegar and water mixture for the purpose of cleaning the brushes, since it also disinfects them. In this case, you need to add one part of vinegar to two parts of water and then dip the brushes in the mixture for some time. Now, rinse the brushes in warm water, followed by the complete drying of the brushes.
  • Shampoo or any facial cleanser can also be used to wash the brushes. You can use your normal shampoos in this case, as bristles are like hair that can be effectively cleaned with normal shampoos.
Tips
  • Never try to boil the makeup brushes with an intention to sterilize them. Brushes need not be sterilized and you can in fact ruin them by the boiling process.
  • Before using the brushes, make sure that they are absolutely dry. Otherwise, you will end up running them as well as your makeup.
  • Do not scrub the brushes too roughly, as this can lead to the loosening of the bristles.
  • Avoid sharing your make up brushes with someone else, as this can lead to the sharing of bacteria that consequently lead to infection.
  • Never dry your makeup brushes under dryer or any other electrical dryers. This will ruin the bristles of the brushes. Instead, only pat them dry with a towel and allow them to lose moisture on their own.
