Using Vinegar & Baking Soda
  • Place a 16.9 oz plastic lidless bottle on a flat surface.
  • Add in 2 tablespoons of vinegar into the bottle.
  • Take a fresh, unused balloon and open its mouth using you two fingers from each hand.
  • Stretch open the balloon and ask another person to place 1 teaspoon of baking soda into the balloon.
  • Stretch the balloon opening further and place it around the opening of the bottle containing vinegar.
  • Allow the baking soda to transfer into the bottle, ensuring that no soda is left into the balloon.
  • As soon as the baking soda comes in contact with the vinegar, the balloon will inflate into a large one. Just as when it become large enough, take the balloons away. In case you wait for too long, the balloons might just burst out.
Using Yeast
  • Fill a 16 oz bottle with one inch warm water.
  • Add one entire packet of yeast into the water and gently shake to blend well.
  • Add 1 teaspoon of sugar into the yeast mixture and place the bottle aside.
  • Open the mouth of a deflated balloon using your two fingers from each hand.
  • Place the mouth of the balloon onto the top of the bottle.
  • Keep the bottle in a warm place for about 20 minutes and see how the balloon starts inflating.
  • This method includes a simple scientific logic behind the blowing up of the balloon. As soon as the sugar is dissolved in the yeast, it releases carbon dioxide which is filled up in the balloon, thereby inflating it.
Using Dry Ice
  • Take a medium empty plastic bottle and add in a few pellets of dry ice.
  • Fit in the neck of the balloon firmly over the mouth of the bottle.
  • While the dry ice will start melting, you will notice the balloon inflating gradually.
  • For a quicker result, gently shake the bottle to make the dry ice sublime faster.
