Easter Egg Decorating Ideas

Easter commemorates a very important day in history: the victory of Christ over death. If Easter means resurrection for the believers of Christianity, it is celebration of spring for the non- believers. Easter egg symbolizes spring as well as new life. As egg bursts forth with a new life of the chicken, spring sets forth a new life after the dormant winter. Easter is a curious blend of both Christian and Pagan traditions. There are so many legends associated with Easter and Easter eggs. According to a legend, in Pagan belief, Easter egg is linked to the Anglo-Saxon goddess Eastre (Latin: Oestre), the goddess of fertility. She would entertain children by making a hare out of her favorite bird, which would lay beautiful eggs. It is believed that even before the birth of Christ, the ancient Persians and Egyptians dyed the eggs in bright colors symbolizing a renewed life. According to Eastern mythology, earth itself was hatched from a giant egg. Another legend says, after the resurrection of Christ, Mary Magdalene visited the Emperor of Rome and presented him a red egg. The red color symbolized Jesus’ blood, the eggshell His tomb and the fertilized egg His renewed life. Check out the various ways you can decorate your Easter egg.
