Things Required
  • Crochet Hook
  • Yarn
  • Stitch Marker
 
Procedure
  • Start crocheting by chaining two in the yarn. Now, work six single crochet into the chain.
  • Work the crochet in a round pattern. Mark the beginning of each round with the stitch marker.
  • Start the second round by crocheting two singles. Now, there should be 12 stitches.
  • Do single crochet for the next round, followed by two single crochet in the next stitch. Repeat this whole around. This will make a total of 18 stitches.
  • In the next round, follow with a single crochet into the next two stitches and two single crochet into the third one. Repeat this pattern whole around. Count the number of stitches and make sure that the total is 24.
  • Continue to increase the stitches until you have reached the desired size. Continue to work the crochet in round pattern, until you have achieved half the size of the crochet ball you want.  
  • Now, it is the time to stuff the ball. To serve the purpose, you need to reverse the process - decrease the size each round until you have 18 stitches. Go on decreasing the number of stitches until you finish making the ball ornament.

Procedure
  • Chain 3, 11 double crochet into the ring, join with a slip stitch in top of beginning chain-12 double crochet.
  • In the second round, double crochet in the first double crochet, 2 double crochet in each of the next 5 stitches, (2 treble crochet, picot) in next stitch, 2 treble crochet in the stitch that follows and 2 double crochet in each of stitches that remain.   
  • Join with a slip stitch in the top of beginning chain-20 double crochet and 4 treble crochet.
  • In the third round, you have to stitch into the next stitch, chain 2, and half double crochet into the same stitch, 2 half double crochet in the next stitch. To fasten off, do 4 half double crochet.          
  • Weave in the ends. 
Crochet Tips 
  • For making a treble crochet, you have to yarn over twice and insert the hook into the stitch. Draw up a loop for three times.
  • For making a picot, chain 3, then slip the stitch in the third chain from the hook.
  • You can sew items like sequins, buttons, and beads in order to embellish the Christmas ornaments. You can also do a little embroidery using a contrasting color of yarn.
