Smoking a cigar after lunch is perhaps one of the best ways of relaxing. Though a large variety of cigars is available in the market, they cannot beat the flavor and enjoyment derived from a hand rolled one. The latter has been the preferred choice of cigar lovers around the world, mainly because it contains pure tobacco. Along with that, in case of a hand rolled cigar, you can control every detail, from the strength of the filler to the flavor of the wrapper leaf. In the following lines, we have provided tips on rolling cigars. Go through them and make that perfect cigar for yourself.
How To Roll A Cigar
- First of all, you need to get some cigar tobacco leaves and put them in a plastic bag.
- With the help of fine spray, lightly moisten the leaves.
- Now, close the bag gently, making sure not to crumble the leaves. Leave the bag for about an hour.
- Wrap the bag tighter, in such a way that the leaves squeeze into a bundle.
- After keeping the leaves aside for another hour, remove the center vein.
- Open the plastic bag and let the leaves dry, until they are leathery and not too wet.
- Next, take the leaves out of the bag and set them in a line, approximately 3 feet long.
- Layer the leaves and continue doing so till the time the thickness is enough to grab a section and squeeze it gently.
- Now, take a fist full of layered leaves and, with the help of scissors, cut them about 1/2 to one inch on either side of the fist. Lay aside.
- Continue with the above step till all of the 3 foot length is cut. What you have now is called raw unrolled filler.
- It is the time to make the binder, for which you will take a large leaf and make it pliable.
- Fold the leaf into half, lengthwise, in such a way that the center vein faces you. Using a pair of scissors, cut out the center vein.
- Now, you will be having two halves of leaf, of which you will use the best and the most flawless one as binder.
- Cut the two halves of leaves, turning them into four quarters. While the top quarters will be triangular, the bottom ones will be squarish.
- Take a finer leaf and repeat the same procedure with it.
- Take 1/4 tsp flour and 2 to 3 tbsp water and mix them.
- Put the mixture in microwave for 15 seconds and then stir for 10 seconds. Repeat the procedure until it forms a thin paste.
- Take a binder leaf and set it on your rolling surface, with the thick veins facing up.
- Bunch the filler leaves together on top of the wrapper, neither too tightly nor too loosely.
- Spread a small amount of the flour-water paste on the edge of the binder leaf and wrap it around the filler.
- Roll it into cigar shape and trim the excess leaf on ends.
- Take the wrapper leaf and roll it around the cigar. Again use the paste, to attach a small piece of the wrapper leaf to one end. Let the other end remain open.
