A favorite way to cool off during the summer days or for that matter any day is a glass of chilled lemonade. During summer when the body is oppressed by the heat, chilled lemonade seems like a breath of fresh air permeating throughout the body. The tanginess of the lemon juice is balanced by the sugar and chilled water, and if made just right, this combination tantalizes the taste buds, which in most cases lies dormant during the heat. When the water begins to boil, reduce the heat and then stir till all the sugar gets dissolved.

Cool the sugar syrup to the room temperature and then set it for refrigeration.
-
Before cutting the lemons roll them in your palms and then cut them in half. Place the strainer over the measuring cup and using the reamer, juice the lemons over it. You should get about one cup of lemon juice.

Pour the lemonade in a tall glass and before serving garnish with fresh mint, lemon slices or strawberries.
Method Two

Take five lemons and squeeze to extract the juice.
-
In a pitcher, take 1 ½ quart of cold water. Remove the seeds from the lemon juice and pour it into the pitcher.
-
Add the sugar and stir thoroughly to dissolve it.
-
Take some ice cubes in a glass and strain the lemonade. Add a pinch of cinnamon and serve.
Additional Tips
-
Before serving, taste the lemonade to check the sweetness. If it is too sweet, then add water until you reach the desired sweetness. If the lemonade feels too watery, then squeeze in the juice of one more lemon.
-
If you feel that the ice will dilute the flavor, then you can simply freeze some of the lemonade to use as ice cubes.
-
You can also make limeade by substituting the lemon juice with lime juice.
-
Using a few drops of food coloring will give the lemonade a pink look. For a different flavor, add a cup of cranberry juice to the lemonade.
