Reasons For Late Period

This condition is also known by the term amenorrhea. A woman having late periods do not ovulate on the 14th day of the menstrual cycle, instead it would come after the 20th day.   • Breastfeeding mothers are known to experience amenorrhea or absence of menstruation sometimes.

  • Fluctuating working schedules and long working hours cause serious damage to the body. When it comes to changing work timings, where there are irregular night shifts and day shifts, the body will not be able to cope with that. Long working hours will have a negative impact on the body and that increases the risk for the development of serious diseases. As a result, a woman will experience late periods or even miss her periods.
  • Traveling can also affect the menstrual cycle. Change of diet and physical activity could have an influence on a woman’s body, which could also result in late periods.
  • Peri-menopause could also be the reason for a late period. The peri-menopausal stage occurs when the body is slowly shifting from the reproductive to un-reproductive age. Periods can be irregular and abnormal at this stage and late periods are common.
