Unclogging Your Kitchen Sink

Materials Required
  • 1/3 cup Baking Soda
  • 1/3 cup Vinegar
  • Warm or Hot Water
  • Big Container
  • Rubber Gloves
Directions
  • The first step would be to remove as much water, from the sink, as possible.
  • Now, prepare the solution for drain cleaning.
  • In a large container, mix 1/3 cup each of baking soda and vinegar. Remember to take a large container, because though the amount is less, the nature of the combination is fizzy. Hence, you would require a big container to leave you plenty of space at the top.
  • Pour the entire solution in the sink drain, as soon as you are done mixing it. Make sure you do it speedily, lest the fizz dies out.
  • Once you have poured the entire solution in the drain, wait for five minutes for the solution to do its work.
  • Now, rinse the sink with warm or hot water. The clog would have gone by now, allowing the drain to work normally.
Tips
  • If the clog is not removed in the first time, keep repeating the process for two or three times. You can also rinse the sink with boiling water. This can be very helpful in removing the clog, as the boiling water will dissolve the clog that blocks the drain.
  • Make sure that you remove all the water from the sink, before cleaning it. If you have water remaining in the sink, it will not allow the solution to go down the drain in full strength.
  • A combination of bleach and dishwasher can also prove effective in removing the clog of the kitchen sink. Once you are done with the cleaning, rinse the sink with hot water, for a shining sink.
  • You can clean the clog, using clog-clearing chemicals that are readily available in the market. Before using these chemicals, read the warnings written on the product’s label. Keep the chemicals away from the reach of small children. Be careful while using these chemicals, as they are hazardous to health.
