How To Prevent White Hair Discoloration

Use A Clarifying Shampoo
Clarifying shampoo effectively removes the dust and dirt, which make hair strands sticky. However, since clarifying shampoo takes the moisture off your hair, you should use always a conditioner after the washing your hair with the product. Clarifying shampoo gives the best result if your home is supplied with hard water, as the shampoo removes the mineral build up more effectively than the regular shampoos.

Cut-Off The Split Ends
Split ends have a major impact on the color quality of your hair. If you want to avoid your white hair being discolored, cut off the split-ended hair with scissors. However, make sure that you do not end up plucking the hair strand altogether.

Use Hot Oil Treatment
You may also use hot oil treatment, which will provide you relief from the problem of split-ends and prevent the discoloration. To do hot oil treatment at your home, heat ½ cup of coconut oil in a pan, on low flame. Once the oil starts melting, take it off the stove. Allow it to cool for five minutes and transfer it into a spray bottle. Spray oil onto your wet/dry hair and use a comb to brush it.

Avoid High Heat
A curling iron, a hot blow dryer or a straightening iron can turn grey or white hair to yellow. So, avoid them altogether. Alternatively, you can use low-heat tools, along with styling products like gel, mouse or cream.

Tips
  • Try to avoid perming and blow dying your hair, as this will damage it no end.
  • Keep away from smoking, as it causes both the hair and fingernails to become yellow.
  • To remove iron and rust from your hair, mix vinegar with some cream of tartar. Apply this mixture to your hair and leave it for about 10 minutes. Rinse with cold water.
  • You can apply lemon juice to your hair, leave for 10-15 minutes and thereafter rinse thoroughly.
  • Mix baking soda with your regular shampoo. Wash your hair with this solution and rinse with plain water.
  • Use shampoos that contain chelating agents like sodium EDTA, D-Penicillamine.
