One of the best ways to make healthy food items is by baking them. Not only does baking require less oil or butter than other modes of cooking, but most of the times, is also quicker than the latter. While making ‘baked dishes’, especially cakes, pies, biscuits and the like, you must have come across the term ‘self rising flour’. Though it seems to be a different item altogether, it is nothing, but a mixture of flour, baking powder and salt. Thus, it can be easily made at home, that too anytime. So, instead of buying a whole package of self-rising flour from the market, you can just buy a small packet of baking powder and get the other two ingredients from home. Whenever you need self rising flour, just add the powder to the normal flour, along with salt, and it is ready! Read on further and know exactly how you can make your own self rising flour.

-
Make sure that you store the flour in an area free of infestation.

Self-Rising Flour Doughnuts
Ingredients
Method
-
In a small bowl, beat butter well, so that it gets softened.
-
Combine the softened butter with sugar and blend well.
-
Beat eggs in a separate bowl.
-
Add the beaten eggs to the sugar-butter mixture and blend well.
-
In another bowl, add nutmeg to the self-rising flour.
-
Add the self-rising flour (now with nutmeg) to the sugar-butter mixture, by adding milk alternatively, to make dough.
-
Heat cooking oil in a thick surfaced pan.
-
When the oil is heated thoroughly, take small pieces of the dough and make small sized doughnuts out of them.
-
Put the doughnuts into the heated oil and deep fry them for a minute.
-
The doughnuts should be fried in such a way that they appear golden-brown in color.
-
After the doughnuts are fried optimally, transfer them into a serving plate that is layered with a tissue paper. The tissue paper would soak excess oil from the doughnuts.
-
Serve the doughnuts hot, with tomato ketchup.
