Been there, done that. It’s a generic truth. Everyone gets stage fright be it your parents or the celebrities you admire. Even the most famous people of the world have confessed of having stage fright. Everyone gets the butterflies in the stomach. Everyone experiences jitters, shaky legs, and quaking lips. So there is nothing new about your stage fear. However, there is no need to live with the fear all your life. There are two things you can do either live off stage all your life or go and conquer it. People who quit are the people who live in the crowd and spend all their life unknown. However, people who come out and combat with the fear are the ones who live with pride and passion. How To Overcome Stage Fear 
  • Practice makes a man perfect. Unless you are completely prepared, you would feel nervous and may even flip out on stage. So practice until you have it by heart. Make notes and read the words many time loud. Read it front of your family and your friends.
  • Work on what you are scared of. Is it because of many people or is it because you are scared of criticism? Know what scares you and then work on it.
  • Practice in front of the mirror. Watch your tone and your manners. Work on to better it. Try different styles and patterns of speaking. It will give you confidence and you wouldn’t flip out on stage.
  • Tell yourself that you can do it. Nobody can inspire you more than you can. So make sure that you know that you can do it. Don’t take it as something very big.
  • Take one-step at a time like when you are preparing the performance, forget that you have to present it and while you are presenting it, don’t remember the audience. 
  • When you are performing, forget that you are performing in front of any audience. Focus your mind on performance and block other things out.
  • Be positive. Think about good things and you will never mess up. Remember that you are good and you will get over the fear.
  • If you are giving a speech, don’t just stand at a place and speak everything. Remember stage is your turf now. Use as much space you can and think of it, as acting and you would be able to work on it.
  • Take deep breaths before you step on the stage. Use gestures and smile. a smile goes a long way and it will not only help you perform better but will also help you overcome the fright.
  • Imagine yourself rocking the stage and you would be able to do it in reality. Let your imagination run wild and see yourself emerging out as winner. Force yourself to think good and positive. Remember your happy moments and it will help you coax you into confidence.
  • Believe in yourself. Generally, people who are scared of stage or facing people are people who don’t believe in themselves. Remember that nothing can mess the situation without your consent and when you believe in yourself, you don’t mess anything up.
  • If you still feel fear, close your eyes and listen to the audience listening and applauding. Think that you are chatting with friends and nothing more. Don’t think of any consequences.
  • If you are going on the stage for the first time, wear your best dress and work on looking smart. it will help you be feel confident.
  • Make sure that the microphones are working well and all the setting is proper. Walk on backstage and check everything.
  • Search for your friends and family from the audience. Familiar faces will help you feel at home and increase your confidence.
  • Remember that it will take time. Nothing happens overnight and you will have to work your way towards getting over your stage fright.
