Porous hair can be described as hair that soaks all the moisture as well as the humidity of the air. It also soaks whatever is applied to the hair. Damaged and fragile hair that tends to break excessively is also categorized as porous hair. The main cause of porous hair is lack of protein. This particular condition of the hair gets prevalent in extreme dry climate conditions, with the hair getting frizzier in muggy, humid days. Often, hair that goes through coloring, straightening, curling or perming regularly ends up being porous, as all these treatments weaken the hair. Caring for porous hair includes a combination of repair and maintenance. A little patience and discipline is also required to restore your porous hair back to being movable, strong and shiny tresses. Read on to find out some tips on how to care for porous and fragile hair.

Hair Caring Tips For Porous Hair
- Every time you shampoo, give your hair an acidic rinse. The acidity will minimize the porousness of the hair shaft and will keep your hair cuticles strong and intact.
- Mix an egg with some rum and apply to your hair once in a while. Egg will absorb the dust, as it contains lecithin. As you wash off the egg, the dust will also get washed away.
- Add cider vinegar or lemon to cold water. After you complete your bath, give your hair a last rinse with this water.
- Apply a rich moisturizing conditioner to your hair and leave it as long as you can. This will smoothen and soften the hair, returning it to normal after shampooing.
- Pour beer in a spray bottle and spray your hair with it, after shampooing. Beer is extremely helpful in combating porosity symptoms. It removes the buildup on the scalp and opens the pores, resulting in gorgeous, shiny hair.
- After shower, apply a small amount of coconut oil to wet hair and massage well. This will oil the hair without making it oily and slippery.
- After you step out of the bathe, blot your hair in a towel and apply a leave-in conditioning product.
- Wet your hair with spring water. Add a drop or more of olive oil in your hands, depending upon your hair length, and rub it into your hair.
- Use hair products that contain proteins and humectants. Avoid products that contain silicon or paraffin.
- Wear a hat or a cap on hot summer days, whenever you move outdoors. Always use a wide-toothed comb or brush to detangle your hair.
