Homemade Birthday Cake Recipes

Humming Bird Cake

  • 4 cups Flour
  • 3 cups Sugar
  • 11/2 tbsp baking Soda
  • 1 tbsp Salt
  • 1 tbsp Cinnamon
  • 1 tbsp Nutmeg
  • 3 cups Bananas (chopped)
  • 1 ½ cups Nuts (lightly toasted and finely minced)
  • 2 cups Vegetable oil
  • 3 Eggs (slightly beaten)
  • 1- 8 ounce can Pineapple (crushed and undrained)
  • 1 can Cream Cheese Frosting (optional)
  • Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F.
  • Take a Bundt pan and grease it.
  • Take a large mixing bowl and add all the ingredients, except the frosting. Take a wire whisk and beat all the ingredients thoroughly to make a smooth batter. Make sure no lumps are formed.
  • Pour the whole batter into the pan.
  • Bake the cake for one hour or until done.
  • Allow it to cool for 30 minutes by placing it on a rack.
  • Decorate it with proper icing. You may even mix food coloring with the icing to make the cake more attractive and colorful.

German Chocolate Cake

  • 3 cups Flour
  • 1 tbsp baking Soda
  • 1/3 tbsp Salt
  • 5 ounces German Chocolate
  • 1 cup Butter
  • 2 cups Sugar
  • 4 Eggs (slightly beaten)
  • 1 tbsp Vanilla essence
  • 1 ½ cup Buttermilk
  • Coconut Pecan Frosting
  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  • Grease and flour a round cake pan.
  • Take a large mixing bowl, and add flour, baking soda, and salt to it.
  • Melt chocolate and butter in the microwave for three minutes. Alternatively, you can also melt it using a pan on the stove.
  • Scrape chocolate in a mixing bowl and add sugar to it.
  • Combine eggs to it. Blend it all together to make a smooth batter.
  • Add a few drops of vanilla essence.
  • Add the flour.
  • Mix all the ingredients to make a smooth paste.
  • Pour the mix into the prepared pan and bake in the oven for 25 minutes or until done. You can insert a toothpick to check if it is done. If the toothpick comes out clean, your cake is done.
  • Let it cool and then ice it with coconut pecan frosting.
