Birthdays are one time of the year when a person is most joyful. Not only is the birthday boy/girl joyful, but people around him/her are happy to be part of the celebrations. A common concern which most of you would connect with during these happy hours is the task of looking for a perfect birthday gift. However, thankfully it isn’t really the gift, but the thought that counts. So, no need of expensive and lavish luxurious gifts - a simple and fun way to solve this problem is to make a birthday scrapbook which the birthday boy/girl would remember for a long time. Why you should do this? Because, it is personal, it will have photos and letters and little items that he/she can connect with. It shows a person how much you have cared about his/her life, the people involved and small memories. With the world going the techno way, you can, today, digitalize all the pages of the scrapbook and stick them together to make it in the form of a book as well. This is also a good idea. Birthday Scrapbook Gifts
What You Need
-
Pages from an old notebook or handmade paper cut to the size of pages
-
Handwritten letters
-
Regular stationery stuff like stickers, buttons, glue, scissors, colour pens and glitter etc
-
Photographs and any other thing you want to add.
-
Stick all the goodies in and make holes in the paper and tie them with a string. Or else, get it hard bound at the local stores.
Layout
It is extremely important that you know how to layout the photos and the little knickknacks that you have collected for the scrapbook. Usually on the cover, a large photo of the person can be stuck with smaller one round the corners. You can make cut out of windows with some goodies under them. It would be good to include the birthday boy/girl’s name somewhere and even a picture of a cake if possible. The inner pages can be divided as:
-
School life
-
College life
-
Married life
Note: This segregation would depend upon how well you know the person and how much he/she has achieved.
Colors
Each page of the scrapbook can be color coordinated (like bright colors alternately) or contrasted with each other as you wish. Bright colors usually spread happiness and everything in the book gets lightened up. If you want to use lighter colors, add some ribbons and pastel shade of buttons or some hand painting to compliment it with.
Pages
In the inside pages you can use a variety of themes and letters. If you want your scrapbook entirely filled with pictures, then make a collage of all the birthday boy/girl’s favourite places and people and stick them in. Or else, you could dedicate a few pages to his/her grandfather or best friend or teacher to convey how they feel. In between, you could add glitter, sparkle and all the dazzling stuff to enliven up the pages. Sometimes people take the more fun aspect of the situation and add crazy photos and the fun times they’ve shared together. You could dedicate a few pages to this as well. Use some artistic talents of other people, be it painting or sketching and add them to the pages.
Additional Tips
-
Make sure the background and photos or letters don’t merge in color. Contrasts must be seen to view the scrapbook.
-
Before you being to stick pictures, place the photos/letters and whatever you have in the right places to check for space.
-
Letters written in someone’s handwriting rather than being printed are highly preferred as it adds a personal touch.
-
Make a mental note of how many pages you’d like to have. Keep it sweet and short!
-
A well planned timeline for getting all the work done would be the trick for a successful birthday gift, instead of running around in between and trying to finish everything within a certain time.
So, take some time out and make the birthday boy/girl feel special!
