It is quite unbelievable that the humble yeast, which is used in such a variety of human usage, could be a cause for any ailment. The difference is that the yeast we use in our cooking is not the same as that causing the infection. This infectious causing yeast belongs to the genus candida and the infections can range from simple to the lethal. The most common type of infections are those on the skin and mucosal membrane which results in inflammation and irritation. Severe itching and red rashes are the most basic signs of this fungal infection. The yeast infects the warm and moist places of the body like skin folds, groin, vagina, mouth and under breasts.
Side Effects Of Yeast Infection
Vaginal And Groin Areas
The vaginal area is the most commonly affected by yeast infections. The resulting burning and itching can range from being mild to the severe. There is also a white discharge, from the vagina. In males the groin areas experiences burning and itching sensations.
Using antibiotics or dentures make one vulnerable to yeast infections. The mouth yeast infections are known as oral thrush, which causes white spots on the tongue and raw red areas. Mouth corners that accumulate moisture can also be affected by yeast.
Skin Folds Or Trapped Areas
Skin folds tend to become moist with sweat and so the infections occur as red rashes that either itch or burn. The yeast infection in this area may look like eczema as similar scaling occurs near these red rashes. Other areas include armpits, behind the knees and under breasts, which can develop yeast infections.
Personal hygiene is the most common cause of fungal infection. Too much cleaning is also harmful as the beneficial bacteria that protect and shield the bacteria are eliminated. Wearing tight clothes in summer can also cause infections. Clothing can play a significant role in causing symptoms to occur. In particular, tight clothes tend to keep the body warmer, thereby creating a fungal environment.
