Pizza Dough Recipe

When we talk about Italian food, the first name that comes in mind is - pizza. The dish comprises of flat and round bread, topped with different combinations of toppings, along with tomato sauce and lots of mozzarella cheese. Though it forms an integral part of Italian cuisine, pizza has gained immense popularity in many other countries of the world as well. If, and when, you think about making a pizza, the first thing that you need to do is prepare the dough, which will serve as its crust. In case you do not know how to make pizza dough, the recipes explained below will come handy.
How To Make Pizza Dough
Recipe 1
  • 1¼ cups Warm Water
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • Vegetable Oil/Olive Oil
  • 3½ to 4 cups Sifted Flour
  • 2 packages Dry Yeasts
  • Pizza Pan/ Baking Sheet
  • 1¼ cups Warm Water
  • Take a medium-sized bowl and put warm water in it.
  • Add yeast to the water, gradually and stir well, until it dissolves.
  • Mix in 2 cups of sifted flour to the yeast mix and blend well.
  • Now, add another 1½ to 2 cups of flour to the mixture, depending on the consistency you want for the dough and blend well.
  • Take out the flour mixture on a flat, clean, lightly-floured surface and knead it for 10 to 15 minutes, or until it forms a smooth and elastic dough.
  • Take another bowl and grease it with some oil. Place the dough in it and turn it once, so that its top also gets oiled.
  • With the help of a plastic wrap, cover the bowl.
  • Place the dough in a warm place, for about 45 minutes, and let it rise to almost double of its original size.
  • Remove the dough from the bowl and again put it on a floured surface.
  • Punch down the pizza dough, making sure to get rid of any bubbles.
  • Divide the dough half and let it rest for a few minutes.
  • Your pizza dough is ready. You can roll it into a circle and use for making pizza.
Recipe 2
  • 1 tbsp Sugar or Honey, granulated
  • 1 ¼ cup Warm Water
  • 1 pack Dry Yeast
  • 1 ¼ cup All-Purpose Flour
  • 2 cup Whole Wheat Flour
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • ¼ cup Olive Oil
  • First of all, you need to dissolve sugar or honey in water. Once dissolved, add yeast to it. Allow it to rest, until the yeast foams slightly.
  • Meanwhile, in a separate bowl, combine 3 cups of all the flours and add salt to it. Pour the yeast mixture and oil on the flour.
  • Knead the mixture; gradually adding enough of the remaining flour mixture, so that the dough no longer has a sticky consistency.
  • Continue kneading until the dough is smooth and elastic. This might take a maximum of 10 to 15 minutes.
  • Now, shape the dough into a ball and put it in a large oiled bowl, turning the dough to coat it with the oil.
  • Keep the oiled dough balls for about 45 minutes. This would allow the dough to double in size.
  • Next, punch down the dough and divide into 2 pieces. This will make two 12-inch pizzas.
  • Now, shape each portion into a 12" circle. You can either do this by hand or with the help of a rolling pin. Stretch out as much as necessary, to achieve thin dough.
  • In case you want a lighter crust, let the dough sit for a half hour after shaping and before constructing pizza and baking.
  • The pizza dough is ready to use!!
