Oily skin is nothing, but a protective skin lubricant called
sebum, secreted by the sebaceous glands. Skins, which are oily, are less prone to wrinkles and other signs of aging. Sometimes the gland secretes excessive
sebum, which results in the accumulation of a heavy and thick filament, on the skin surface. This, blocks the skin pores, increases blackheads, and accumulation of dead skin, on the skin surface. The skin, irritatingly, becomes glossy, and pimples tend to develop. To reduce the secretion of excess oil, care must be taken so that all the skin lipids, are not removed as these, keep the skin healthy, by locking the moisture in the
epidermis. There are several other factors, which contribute in heavy secretion like heredity, hormone levels, pregnancy, and humidity. Also, diet is a very important factor, as oily food results in oily skin.
