Casa Mila
One of the most famous and imposing structures in Barcelona, the Casa Mila, also known as La Pedrera was designed by the famous architect, Gaudi. It took five years to be completed (1905-1910) and the nickname La Pedrera means ‘quarry’. This was with reference to the grey stone that was used to build the frontage. Today, the structure houses a museum which exhibits the fantastic works of Gaudi and allows tourists to explore the legend freely. During evenings in weekends in summers, the rooftop is usually lit up with bulbs and visitors are allowed to go up and enjoy a beautiful panorama of the fascinating city below.
Barcelona Zoo
The Barcelona zoo is a must-see tourist attraction, irrespective of your age and interest. This vast zoo houses over 7000 animals, which belong to over 500 species. The star attraction of the zoo is a fascinating albino gorilla, the only one in captivity, which is named Snowflake! There is also a restaurant, picnic area, a shop, electric cars, ponies and a mini-train. Take your time to explore this lovely place and get one with the wonderful creations of nature.
L'Aquàrium
One of the most visited tourist attractions of Barcelona, the sea life aquarium here is a must see place. It is housed in an unusual transparent building and offers a wide variety of marine animals, which have been brought from different parts of the world. The most popular creatures here are the sharks along with other colorful fish and fascinating aquatic creatures. There is also a safe play area for children where little kids can go and enjoy while you relax without worries.
Plaça Catalunya
Barcelona’s main square, Plaça Catalunya, is situated in the Gothic Quarter of the city. It is spread over a vast area and is surrounded by some of the most beautiful buildings and fascinating examples of architecture. It is Barcelona’s most busy areas and is visited by anyone who comes here. It is famous for its fountains and statues and also for the flock of pigeons that gather here, much to the fascination of tourists!
