Hair loss has been a common problem in both men and women from time immemorial.   • If you can find the cause of your hair loss, half your problem is solved. Visit your doctor to determine the type of hair loss and what the right treatment for you will be.
  • Check what you are eating. High fat and spicy food can cause hair loss, whereas a low fat diet helps a lot in slowing down the balding process in men. Also, include foods that are rich in antioxidants and phytochemicals in your daily diet. You can incorporate foods that are rich in sulfur and silica like eggs, garlic, onions, carrots, apricots, and brown rice.
  • Soy is also an ideal food to reverse hair loss. The phytochemicals present in soy and soy products block the formation of a hormone that is known to cause hair loss.
  • Cut down on salty, sugary, fried, and processed food as much as possible.
  • Drink plenty of fluids, especially during the summer months and binge on fresh fruits and vegetables that will not only help improve the health of your hair, but will also make your healthy from within.
  • Follow a healthy lifestyle. Stress can lead to extensive hair loss. Make sure you get adequate sleep.   
  • Aromatherapy can work wonders for hair loss. A blend of lavender essential oil and bay leaf can stimulate the scalp and facilitate new hair growth. You can also try other essential oils like basil, lemon, rosemary, arnica, grapefruit, and Roman chamomile that have the potential to stimulate hair growth and prevent hair loss.
  • Hair styling products can take a wreck on the health of your hair. If you are using such products, make sure to provide enough nutrition to your hair.
  • Avoid alcohol consumption and smoking to prevent hair loss.
  • Lack of certain vitamins can also be a probable cause for hair loss. Magnesium, vitamin B, zinc, iron, and biotin supplements can help prevent hair loss. Nevertheless, be sure to check with your physician before you start on any of these supplements.
  • A simple scalp massage with your fingertips for 10-15 minutes daily improves blood circulation in the scalp that facilitates hair growth. A 15 minute massage with castor oil can be beneficially as it promotes hair growth.
  • Wash your hair regularly and maintain basic personal hygiene. If you are using harsh shampoos, switch to mild herbal shampoos that are gentle on your hair.
