Fat Transplant

Fat transplant is becoming very popular amongst the fashion conscious people of today’s world, including India. They want to look perfect and whenever they see imperfection in their body, they go for various surgeries, of which one is the fat transplantation surgery. It is basically done to augment certain specific areas of the body, like buttocks, biceps, triceps, calf muscles, breasts, hands, and so on. For the purpose, the fat cells are taken from some other area of the body.

Reasons for Fat Transplant
People usually resort to fat transplant because of the following reasons:
  • To correct the uneven distribution of fats in the body and thus, getting rid of disproportionate features and looking good
  • To make up for a large amount of fat lost from only a specific area of the body, if any
The Procedure
Fat transplant surgery is performed by board of certified plastic surgeons and it usually lasts for around two hours. The person undergoing the transplant is given general or local anesthesia with sedation. In case of local anesthesia, the area from which the fat is to be removed is numbed, along with the area where the fat is to be injected. Thereafter, the fat cells are removed from the particular area, with the help of liposuction, and then processed and purified by the doctor. The doctor might use a technique that spins the fat cells.

After this, the fat cells are injected beneath the skin and the concerned area is bandaged. Surgeons usually overfill the treated area with fat cells. This is because up to 60 percent of the transferred fat cells die during the first three to four days. Overfilling is done to allow for dissipation of transferred fat cells. However, since many of the transferred fat cells may eventually be reabsorbed in the body, the exact results of the surgery are somewhat unpredictable. The effect of a fat transplant surgery can last from three years to a lifetime.

The fat cells used for the transplant are of your own body, making the procedure totally:
