Toss Pre-release Review
Director Ramesh Khatkar took the title of his film too seriously and let the whole subject go for a toss (literally). The concept was good - showing that 'money is the root cause of all evil'. However, it
somewhere got lost in the script and we were left with a movie that had a beautiful body, but no soul. The screenplay is so pathetic that the plot, which could have been convincing, gets blown into smithereens. Though the movie was supposed to be a full-on thriller, we hardly got to see the promised kicks and excitement in it.
somewhere got lost in the script and we were left with a movie that had a beautiful body, but no soul. The screenplay is so pathetic that the plot, which could have been convincing, gets blown into smithereens. Though the movie was supposed to be a full-on thriller, we hardly got to see the promised kicks and excitement in it. Right from the beginning, things went for a flip. The director took ages to come to the point and even thereafter, the scenes seemed to be stretched on, unnecessarily. Here, you feel a serious lack of editing. However, the music of the movie comes as a saving grace and you carry the tunes home with you. Even the background score was quite impressive. The cinematography is also top-notch. At times, you seem to wonder whether Ramesh Khatkar was more interested in making a technically sound movie, rather than a convincing one.
When you talk about performances, the first name that comes to mind is that of Prashant Raj - who seemed to be the best of the lot. After him, we can count in by Ashmit Patel and Aarti Chhabria, both of whom did a decent job. Mahesh Manjrekar and Sushant Singh were, as usual, quite effective. In fact, they seemed to have the only comic scenes in the movie. Vijay Raaz and Rajpal Yadav were completely wasted. By the way, what was Rannvijay doing in the movie? He is best suited to Roadies and should stick to that only!
Toss Pre-release Review
''Toss'' is the directorial debut of Ramesh Khatkar in the Hindi film industry. He has earlier written the screen play of Ramgopal Verma directed "Mast", which was released in 1999 and also assisted the veteran in directing the movie. Riding on the fragile shoulders of a relatively less known star cast, comprising of Sushant Singh, Prashant Raj, Ashmit Patel, Rannvijay Singha, Aarti Chabria, Shruti Gera, Mahesh Manjrekar, Rajpal Yadav, Madhurima Tuli, Zakir Hussain, and Hardik Sanghvi, 'Toss' promises to be a hardcore thriller.
'Toss', produced by Mukesh Ramani, is all set for a release on August 28, 2009. The music for the film has been provided by Siddharth, Sandesh Shandilya, and Suhas, while Sudhir Nema, Irshad Kamil, and Kumaar are the lyricists. The movie unfolds the nerve-gripping story of childhood friends who, accidentally, chance upon money worth a fortune and decide to split it amongst them. Money ignites their wild imaginations, even as they calculate the risks involved and decide upon each' share of the booty.
The thrill of chancing upon the huge bounty explodes when the friends realize that the owners of the money and even the police are vying for their lives. Caught at the crossroads, where one path leads to the intoxicating ambience of a plush life and one straight to the jaws of the dragon - where death is awaiting them, they decide to trail the unknown path. The movie is at its unpredictable best and keeps you glued to your seats till the denouement is reached. The tagline of the film 'A lip of destiny' rightly catches the capricious mood of the plot.
