Tommy Hilfiger, the popular fashion retailer is planning to expand business in India by targeting Tier - II and Tier - III cities. This is apparently the second phase of the expansion and there are plans to launch many more new stores in different cities in India. The Indian consumers apparently have a penchant for good designer stuff and luxury brands, which is what is encouraging Tommy Hilfiger to go ahead with the expansion plan. The company is expecting a turnover of Rs. 100 crore this fiscal year.
The tier - II cities that have been included in the plan for expansion include Ahmedabad, Pune and Ludhiana. Research shows that there is tremendous growth potential in these cities and has responded very well to designer brands, which is why Tommy Hilfiger feels it is crucial to have a presence in these places. By the year 2010, the company hopes to become a pan-India luxury brand. The major metro cities in India have already had their dose of Tommy Hilfiger stores, now it is time for those who don’t live in the posh urban metros to treat themselves.
Tommy Hilfiger conveyed that the new stores shall provide a combination of mono-brand and concessionaire outlets. People can choose from the wide range of apparel that Tommy Hilfiger is famous for like jeans, shirts, designer tees, etc. apart from that, they can also shop for chic accessories like watches and bags. The company has decided to make the accessories available too due to excess demand and popularity.
