Though the basic premise behind 'Straight' is not too bad, the plot has been stretched too much, to form a complete film. After a point of time, the lengthened plot seems to make you fidget in the seat. There are a few laughs in the movie, especially in the first half, but 'Straight' failed to sustain the humor throughout. One of the biggest flaws in the movie is Vinay Pathak's 'simple guy, with a good heart act'. We have seen it so many times before, like in 'Dasvidaniya' and 'Oh My God', that the feeling of déjà vu continue to prickle all along the movie. It is high time that he moves beyond the act and explores other roles as well.

Parvati Balgopalan, who had earlier delivered 'Rules-Pyar Ka Superhit Formula', impressed us with her direction in 'Straight' also. Even the cinematography was good, capturing the London locales beautifully, while the soundtrack was lively enough. In terms of acting, though Vinay Pathak was good, his repetitive acts took out the novelty factor from his performance. Gul Panag, looking extremely hot, managed to put in a good act as well. Anuj Choudhary impressed us with his acting skills, while Siddharth Makkar, Rasik Dave and Ketki Dave were likeable. In short, the movie has nothing that you have not seen before!

Straight Pre-release Review
"Straight" unfolds the story of a London-based Indian - Pinu (Vinay Pathak). He is the successful owner of "Gaylord", a restaurant located in central London. Simple though, he suffers from an inferiority complex. One of the main reasons behind this is the fact that he hasn't lost his virginity till date. He often finds himself laughed at, by the people. Being an introvert, he doesn't have any real friends and seeks friendship from his loving brother - Rajat (Siddhartha Makkar). Although he often lands himself in trouble because of Pinu, Rajat is fond of his brother, as he finds him very funny.

Life becomes interesting for Pinu, when Kamlesh (Anuj Chaudari) and Renu (Gul Panag) enter his life. Kamlesh approaches Pinu to hire him as a stand-up comedian at the restaurant. After denying initially, Pinu appoints him as a cook at his restaurant, allowing him to perform his stand-up acts in the evening. Meanwhile, Renu is appointed as the cashier of the restaurant. Passionate about the art of caricature, she makes interesting caricatures for customers, increasing the popularity of the restaurant further. Life goes on smoothly and becomes more dramatic for Pinu, who gels with Kamlesh & Renu and even hangs out a bit with them, bringing about a change in his introvert personality.

The twist in the tale of "Straight" comes when Pinu discovers another fear in his life - the assumption that he might be Gay! To prove that his latest fear is baseless, he seeks Rajat's aid. On the latter's advise, Pinu starts a search of available women, with whom he can undertake sexual rendezvous. While on the "mission", Pinu encounters a rampage, which unfolds a series of tragicomic situations. He feels humiliated and finds himself being laughed at. "Straight" is the comical story of Pinu, who struggles with his fears and complexes. To know whether Pinu "comes out" as straight or not, go and watch the movie!
