Spice-Qualcomm S-950 & C-810

For those who love to try the new mobile phones in the market, there is good news. Spice Mobile has announced its partnership with Qualcomm Inc., a leading developer and innovator of advanced wireless technologies and data solutions. The aim of the alliance is to come out with a 3G Mobile Handset and an Open Market CDMA2000 Handset in the country. While, the former is called S-950, the latter will be known by the name of C-810.
 
Acclaimed to be first highly differentiated 3G CDMA (CDMA2000 and WCDMA) sets in India, S-950 and C-810 were unveiled by the current Bollywood favorite, Katrina Kaif. Amongst the two phones, S-950 claims the distinction of being the first Indian branded 3G device. On the other hand, C-810 is said to be a full-featured CDMA2000 device, mainly to be used for the open market in the nation, another first in the country that was till now limited to operator dependent handsets.
 
S-950 will be based on Qualcomm’s Mobile Station Modem (MSM) MSM6245 chipset solution. The wireless multimedia features that will be provided by its 3G devices include 2 MP camera, 262K color screen, music player (supporting MP3, AAC and AAC+ file formats), stereo Bluetooth, integrated stereo FM radio, video playback and JAVA. Along with that, it also provides access to wideband service like high-speed net browsing, high resolution video and image transmission with the same quality as fixed networks
 
The other applications of S-950 comprise of Google Search engine, Opera mini Browser and NGPay application for banking/ticketing. Users will also be rewarded with expandable memory and EDGE / GPRS / GSM connectivity. If that wasn’t enough, the mobile phone will come integrated with content from the latest Bollywood movie ‘Jannat’. All this has been designed keeping one thing in mind i.e. an enriched mobile experience for the Indian consumers.
 

The other cell phone, C-810, will work on the QSC6020 chipset, from the Qualcomm Single-Chip (QSC) family. One of the best features of the phone is its ability to provide the users with 10 hours talk time and 15-day standby time. C-810 has been equipped with a large 2.2-inch display screen, along with 1.3 MP camera. The other features of the phone comprise of music player (MP3 & AAC support), FM radio video player, Bluetooth, BREW and internal storage of 500 songs or 1000 images (with expandable memory support).
