Sony Ericsson is out with its latest models for the Indian market - R300 and R306. Both of them are ‘Made in India’ radio phones, of which R300 is the entry-level one. Sony Ericsson R300 is a candy-bar design mobile phone, which not only provides the user with FM, but AM frequencies also, the first for any cell phone in India. Apart from dedicated loudspeakers for the radio, the phone also boasts of preset channel buttons that allow user to easily switch between radio channels as well as volume boosters for sound clarity. The launch price of Sony Ericsson R300 is Rs 4395.
Design
Sony Ericsson R300 boasts of a sleek candy-bar design, with dimensions of 101 x 46 x 12 mm. Apart from being slim and stylish, the cell phone boasts of a weight of hardly 75 grams, making it highly compact and totally inconspicuous in the pocket. Being an FM/AM-centric phone, Sony Ericsson R300 has a special receiver on the back, which comprises of all the buttons required for managing it. The small monochrome display alongside tells about the station as well as number of the caller. There are also little knobs on the sides, using which you can place the phone on a flat surface, as a radio receiver.
Features
Sony Ericsson R300 is an entry level mobile phone, packed with loads of features. It has been made keeping in mind the mass of Indian population, which loves to carry around music, but either cannot afford or doesn't want a separate MP3 player. It comes equipped with FM/AM frequencies, along with 3D sound enhancement and volume boost for noisy environments. Moving on to the other features of Sony Ericsson R300, we can enlist 0.3 megapixel resolution (VGA) camera, a WAP browser and Bluetooth. Then, there is also Class 10 GPRS, MP3/AAC player, USB and Java.
One of the best features of Sony Ericsson R300 is its handset support of TrackID. It allows the user to know not only the name of the songs he was listening to, but also the name of its singer as well as album. The cell phone also allows the recording of a clip of a song from an external source, to know about its singer, its name as well as which album which it is from. There is also an Audio Enhancer key in Sony Ericsson R300, which allows the user to activate volume boost. The mobile phone comes with the standard Li-Ion battery, with a talktime of up to 9 hours and standby of up to 400 hours.
