The Indian mobile industry is growing at an astounding pace, day-by-day. With the number of mobile users in India crossing the mark of 40.6 million, the mobile companies can’t afford to miss out on any growth opportunity in the dynamic Indian market. The popular mobile handset manufacturing company Sony Ericsson isn’t an exception too.
To tap the immense growth opportunities available in the Indian mobile handset market, Sony Ericsson has announced the launch of two new, India specific handsets for the entry level consumers of India. These handsets were launched with a tagline – “Made for India, Made in India”.
This entry level series of handsets will include two models. These are R300i and R306i, both of them being the ‘Radio Phones’. These phones are placed in the price range of Rs. 3500 – 5000 by the company. The R300i will be launched in two colors – Antique Copper and Steel Black. On the other hand, the R306i will be launched in Coffee Black and Champagne White colors.
The company has also decided to manufacture both of these models in India at its Sriperumbudur manufacturing facility, near Chennai. These handsets are expected to be out in the Indian markets by the second quarter (April – June) of 2008.
