Yet another step is being taken to combat environmental pollution! India’s second largest car maker, Hyundai Motor India Ltd. is all set to launch the LPG version of Santro this year. Apart from the LPG, it is said that the CNG version will also be available around the same time. This car will be launched somewhere around the third quarter of this year. This was announced by the managing director at the Auto Expo 2008 in Delhi.
The car will have a 1086 cc engine and the performance will be one that is powerful, reliable as well as fuel efficient. The rising fuel prices urge the use of a better and cheaper fuel and LPG seems to be the right choice. Not only is it cheaper, it is also easily available and is environmental friendly. There are plans to launch at least two models every year.
With this news, we get to hear another piece of fresh information which states that the brand new plant for manufacturing Santro LPG has been set up at the industrial town down south in Sriperumbudur. Its inauguration shall take place soon after Hyundai unveils Santro LPG. The plant is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities to aid in production and is estimated that it would double the production capacity in country and take the figure to around 600,000 units per annum.
