Touted as the world’ slimmest slider phone, Samsung SGH E 840 is one phone that gets attention easily due to its sleek design and looks. It measures just around 10.6mm at its thickest point and the sophisticated design of the phone only adds to the sleekness. If the slimness doesn’t seem to attract you, then be ready to get fascinated by its shiny and glossy finish on the front. It looks as smooth as polished glass. The slide mechanism is smooth as butter and also feels quite sturdy. Priced at around Rs. 12,000, this phone is a steal.
Features of Samsung SGH E840
The phone comes equipped with features like touch sensitive front buttons, almost mirror-like LCD, great animation, etc. when you slide up the phone to dial a number, an animated pen comes on the screen and writes it stylishly on a piece of paper! The menu system of this phone can be customized to personal taste; you may change it from grid setting to list setting or vice-versa by changing the set-up menu at anytime. The phone is quite light and weighs hardly around 99 grams. The phone comes with an FM radio and the music player is also very simple to use. You can also use the document viewer to load up MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint as well as PDF files and view them on the big and wide 2.2” screen.
Performance
The phone has a clear audio and call quality is quite good. The phone, when switched to the speaker mode, gives a decent volume. Even though it is not blaring, it is decent enough to have a conversation in a noisy area. Messaging is a bit of a problem and you need to get used to it really well if you don’t want to accidentally erase the message by swiping your finger over the touch sensitive buttons! In order to live upto the slim image, Samsung has compromised on the battery. They have used a smaller than usual battery for this one.
As a result, the battery life is pretty bad and needs to be charged every now and then in order to have long conversations. The camera gives good shots, though the resolution is a bit poor, even though the sharpness and color of the image makes up for it. Since there is no 3G support, browsing the internet may seem a bit sluggish. In a nutshell, the phone is absolutely chic for those are looking for a stylish mobile, even though the battery life is not upto the mark.
