Samsung India, the Indian arm of the Korea-based multinational conglomerate, is all set to woo the customers in the current year (2008). The company has announced the launch of its new and advanced 2008 series of digicams and camcorders. The new series of the Digital Still Cameras, called as the 2008 series, comprises of the ‘NV’ series, ‘I series’, ‘L series’ and ‘S series’. All the digital cameras have been equipped with a larger LCD screen and boast of extremely sleek looks.
The entire series will have digicams with resolutions in the range of 7, 8 and 10 mega pixels and will be pricedin the range of Rs 5990 to Rs 19,990. If that wasn’t enough, the models of the cameras are available in a number of colors. For example, the ‘i85’ digital camera has a resolution of 8.1 MP & comes with 5x optical zoom lens and 3” TFT LCD screen. Apart from that, it also has features like face detection, personal multimedia player (with MP3 & movie clips recording in MPEG 4 format), movie editing and flash-animated user interface.
Samsung i85 will be launched at a price of Rs.14,990. Then, there is the L830 digicam with a resolution of 8 MP and L730 camera with a resolution of 7.3 MP. Both the digital cameras comes equipped with 3x Optical zoom, 2.5” LCD screen, an Advance Shake Reduction feature, MPEG 4 format movie recording capability and a compact aluminum body. As far as the price is concerned, L830 will be launched at Rs. 10990 and L730 will be launched at Rs. 8990. Samsung has also launched two new entry-level digital cameras.
One of them is the S760, which comes with 7.2 mega pixel, and the other is S860, which comes with 8.1 mega pixel. The entry level cameras have been embedded with 3x optical zoom and will come in four colors, namely silver, black, pink and blue. The other features include Mode Dial (for switching shooting options), face detection technology, Digital Image Stabilization (DIS) technology and shortcut keys on the rear side. While the S760 will be launched at the price of Rs 6990, S860 will cost Rs 8990.
The 2008 digital camcorders series of Samsung will include three models, namely VP-HMX10A, VP-MX10A and VP-DX10. All of them have been fitted with Flash Memory technology, which provides the benefits of longer battery life and QuickStart in just three seconds. The design of the camcorders is very sleek, compact, efficient and easy to use. VP-HMX10A comprises of advanced features like HD picture quality resolution and a 2.7-inch high-resolution touch-panel LCD screen.
The digital camcorder also comes equipped with 50 fps technology, which makes it easy for the user to capture exceptionally detailed videos, enables the recording of up to 4 GB of internal flash memory (i.e. one hours recording) and enables the use of working in H.264 at 720p or SD/SDHC/MMC+ cards that extend recording capacity. VP-HMX10A will be launched at a price of Rs. 34,900. The entire range of camcorders, to be launched in 2008, will be priced between Rs. 13,900 and Rs. 34,900.
