Salman Khan is all set to join the likes of Amitabh Bachchan, Shahrukh Khan and Aishwarya Bachchan, by becoming the fourth Bollywood actor to have a wax statue at Madame Tussauds Wax Museum in London. The hunk of Bollywood is going to unveil his statue at Madame Tussauds on 15th January, 2008. Salman has won the honor of having a wax statue at Madame Tussauds after beating nine other popular Indian stars like Madhuri Dixit and Abhishek Bachchan.
A public poll was conducted in August, as to whose statue should be made amongst the nine stars. From amongst the 10,000 votes (approximately) received, the majority went with Salman Khan. After knowing the results, the actor personally thanked his fans in an interview. Some time back only, Salman, fondly called ‘Sallu’ by Indian fans, was visited by the expert sculptors of Tussaud’s in Mumbai city.
After measuring and photographing him, the experts went back to London to work on them. The wax figures of Madame Tussauds are being made since the past 150 years and each statue requires the dedication, efforts and skills of 20 sculptors. They refer to the specific and accurate body measurements, which are over 500 in number, and insert real hair into the scalp of the statue - one by one. Thereafter, numerous layers of paints and tints are applied for bringing about the perfect skin tone.
It takes approximately 4 months to build the statue and just like the efforts put in its making, it is excellent. The work on Salman Khan’s statue is still in progress. The clothes that it is about to be displayed in, have already been donated by the handsome actor. Along with that, he has also recorded an exclusive video message that is to be shown at the opening ceremony of the statue. Now, we just have to wait for January 15, when the amazing wax statue will be revealed to the public.
