Indian filmmakers never get tired of being 'inspired' (or rather copying) from English movies, do they? The latest movie to be 'inspired' by a Hollywood flick, 'If Only' - starring Jennifer Love Hewitt, 'Ru-Ba-Ru' has hit the theaters. And…it failed to inspire the audience. Though the 'inspiring movie' was good, the 'inspired one' is not. Even though the movie has duration of only two hours, it seems to drag on, especially in the first half. There is nothing in it that would hold you on to your seats.

As 'Ru-Ba-Ru' moves on towards the second half, it starts picking up the pace of a psychological thriller and you start building hopes. However, by the time the film reaches its climax, you realize that the thrill was momentary. 'Ru-Ba-Ru' ends up being nothing more than a nonfigurative take on destiny and luck. While the initial story is good, the inefficient screenplay makes it totally bland and tiresome. Even though 'Ru-Ba-Ru' has as many as 12 songs, none of them is good enough to write about.

Randeep Hooda has managed to break the 'tough guy' image that he carried from 'D' and 'Risk' and played the role of a 'romantic hero' well. However, there is still some room for improvement, especially in the romantic scenes. On the other hand, Sahana definitely manages to impress and carries on the magic of 'Rock On'. Rati Agnihotri and Jayant Kriplani have not been properly utilized in the movie. Kulbhushan Kharbanda, playing a vital role in 'Ru-Ba-Ru', falters on the way. In the end, 'Ru-Ba-Ru' is definitely not worth watching in a Cineplex.
