Noted fashion designer Ritu Kumar, whose outfits have been patronized by eminent personalities like late Princess Diana, Aishwarya Rai and Sushmita Sen, is all set to launch a new fragrance under her label. To be called 'The Tree Of Life', the label is expected to be launched in the next couple of months. The announcement regarding the launch of the fragrance was made by Amrish, the son of Ritu Kumar, who is also a designer and joined her mother for the sub brand - Ritu Kumar, LABEL, launched in 2002.
Amrish has already showcased his debut collection, under his mother's fashion label - ‘Ritu Kumar’, at the autumn-winter edition of the Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week (WIFW), in New Delhi this year. When he was asked for some more details about the new fragrance, the designer preferred to remain tightlipped. The only thing he revealed was that ‘The Tree Of Life' was going to be launched in a month or so and all the information regarding it would be revealed closer to its unveiling only.
Ritu Kumar entered the fashion circuit in the 1960s, with hand block printers and two tables, in a small village near Calcutta. She was the first woman to introduce the ‘boutique’ culture in India, launched under the brand name ‘Ritu’. From her humble beginning, she has today risen to be become one of the leading fashion designers of India and has outlets throughout the country. Since 1994, she has also been designing the wardrobes of the three winning Miss India’s, for their participation in International Beauty Pageants.
