The movie is set in the 19th century, the period to which Raja Ravi Varma belonged. He was a painter who gave Indian goddesses real faces, bodies and emotions. He was the one who was charged with the allegation of obscenity, immorality and hurting religious sentiments of the people, an aftermath of his painting nudes of Indian mythological characters. Thereafter, the court case began…within which is also interwoven the love story between the great artist and his muse - Sugandha. It was her beauty that inspired him to make exquisite paintings and her personality that infused life in him as well as his paintings.
