How To Make Pretzels
 
Buttery Soft Pretzels
 
Ingredients
  • 1 tsp White Sugar
  • 4 tsp active dry Yeast
  • 5 cups all-purpose Flour
  • ½ cup White Sugar
  • 1 ½ tsp Salt
  • 1 ¼ cups warm Water
  • ¼ cup Kosher Salt (for topping)
  • ½ cup Baking Soda
  • 1 tbsp Vegetable Oil
  • 4 cups Hot Water
Preparation
  • Dissolve yeast and 1 tsp sugar in warm water in a bowl. Let it stand for about 10 min, until creamy.
  • Mix together ½ cup sugar and salt and flour. Mix and form into dough, add 2 tbsp water if the mixture remains dry. Knead the dough until it smoothens for about 7-8 min.
  • Oil a large bowl slightly and place the dough in the bowl and turn it around to coat it with oil. Now cover the dough with plastic wrap and let it rise in a warm place for about an hour.
  • Preheat the oven to 450 degrees F. Dissolve the baking soda in hot water.
  • Turn the dough out on a lightly floured surface when raised and divide the dough into 12 equal pieces. Roll each of the pieces into a rope and then twist into a pretzel shape.
  • Once you have shaped the dough, dip each of the pretzel pieces into baking soda solution and then place them on a greased baking sheet. Sprinkle them with kosher salt.
  • Bake the pieces in a preheated oven for about 10 minutes or until browned.
Cinnamon-Raisin Soft Pretzels
 
Ingredients
  • 1 ½ cup Warm Water
  • 1 pack Yeast
  • 3/4 cup Raisins
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 2 cup Cake Flour
  • 2 tsp Brown Sugar
  • 2-2 ¼ cup all-purpose Flour
  • 2 tsp Baking Soda
  • 2 cup Hot Water
  • ¾ cup Sugar
  • 1 tsp Cinnamon
  • 3 tsp Butter or Margarine (melted)
Preparation
  • Dissolve yeast in warm water and stir in brown sugar and salt. Add in the cake flour and mix well.
  • Add all-purpose flour to form soft dough and then stir in the raisins.
  • Knead well the flour until smooth and elastic. Place it in a greased bowl; turn it once in order to grease the top of the dough. Cover it and let it rise for about 30 min in a warm place.
  • Now, divide the flour into 14 small balls and roll each of the balls into long rope.
  • Now dissolve baking soda in hot water. Dip each of the dough rope in the soda water and drain it out on paper towels.
  • Shape the drained dough into pretzel and place it on greased baking sheets. Bake them at 400oF for 15 min.
  • Meanwhile, mix together sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl.
  • Once baked, brush butter over pretzel and then dip in cinnamon and sugar mixture. Serve it warm.
Chocolate Pretzel Recipe
 
Ingredients
  • 20 thick Pretzel twists
  • 12 oz Chocolate Chips
  • 2 tbsp Vegetable Shortening
  • Chopped Nuts (for topping)
Preparation
  • Line up 2 large cookie sheets with some waxed papers.
  • Combine together chocolate chips with some vegetable shortening in a microwave resistant bowl.
  • Put the bowl in the microwave for 2 min at 70% power supply.
  • Once out from the microwave, stir the preparation until it turns smooth. Continue the process of heating the preparation and stirring the same for 15 more minutes until it turns completely smooth.
  • Dip in the pretzels into the prepared chocolate mixture with the help of a fork. Tap off any access of chocolate gently and then place the pretzels on the cookie sheets and sprinkle over the toppings.
  • Let the pretzels set for some time. Refrigerate them if necessary for the chocolate to set completely.
Milk Chocolate Pretzel Recipe
 
Ingredients
  • 1.69 0z mini Candy-Coated Chocolates
  • 24 circular Pretzels
  • 24 Milk Chocolate Candy kisses
Preparation
  • Preheat the oven to 350o F.
  • Place the pretzels on the baking sheets. Unwrap the candy kisses and place them at the centre of the pretzels.
  • Place the pretzels with the candy kisses in the preheated oven for about 1-2 min and let the candy kisses melt slightly.
  • Remove the pretzels from the oven and place the candy coated chocolate in the centre of each pretzel.
  • Refrigerate them for the candy chocolates to set properly.
