Remove the world 'perfect' from 'Perfect Mismatch' and you have the word describing how the movie fares in relation to the audience. The concept of fathers not letting their kids marry just because they don't like each other is just so passé, especially in context of the present-day 'multiplex' audience. Leaving aside this flaw, even the premise of the movie - the difference between the two fathers, seem too trivial and flimsy, to be convincing. On top of that, the two love birds seem to be doing almost nothing to remove the 'problems' between their fathers.
In the jet-age world, where lovers defy all conventions to be with each other, the lead actors seem reconciled to their fate and became almost passive spectators to the 'father fights'. Technically, the film suffers from bad editing. There are too many scenes that do not have relevance to the overall plot. The direction is faulty and so is the writing. As for the performances, Anubhav Anand is good in flashes, but takes too much of screen space. Nandana Sen is passable. As for Anupam and Boman, they were good as usual, but did not get much screen space.

'Perfect Mismatch', to be released under the banner ' Xperience Film's Pvt. Ltd.', has been produced by Anubhav Anand, Alan Noel Vega and Rajan Shandil. It has Steven Gutheinz as the music director and Kumaar as the lyricist. The story of this movie revolves around the life of Aman (Anubhav Anand) and Neha (Nandana Sen). Aman, an architect by profession, has been raised by his uncle. He is one of those fortunate people whose life is full of love and care provided by their family. However, he is not aware of its importance till now.
One fine day, Aman finds his life getting completely changed, but in a beautiful way. He comes across Neha, the perfect girl with whom he falls in love. As their relationship moves ahead, the two find themselves getting closer to each other and falling more deeply in love. It seems that nothing can come between them, ever. However, this proves to be true only till the time their families meet. The moment a rendezvous takes place between Mr. Bhalla (Anupam Kher) and Mr. Patel (Boman Irani), all hell breaks lose.
Mr. Bhalla has an excessively outgoing and vibrant personality, while Mr. Patel believes in sticking to his age-old traditions. So, what we have here is a 'perfect mismatch' of the two families. As expected, the two families, more precisely the fathers, disapprove of the relationship. However, the two love-birds are determined to get tied into a lifelong bond. In order to make their dream come true, they start using every trick to bring the families closer and get rid of the trivial differences between them.
As Aman and Neha set on the task of getting their two disapproving, faultfinding fathers on the right track, a series of hilarious misadventures follow. It is around this time only, when Aman is struggling on the family as well as the career front, that he comes to understand the value and important of family and love. What will happen now? Will Aman and Neha be able to make their families see eye to eye and forget about their differences? If not, will their love be lost forever? All these questions will be answered on 24th July 2009.
