No Flour No Sugar Diet

To be healthy and in shape is the sole reason, why people have been doing crash dieting and exercising since long. The No Flour, No Sugar Diet is a weight-loss program about eating healthy and living healthy. It is penned down in an eponymous book by Dr. Peter Gott, who is a renowned health writer and medical practitioner. The book, subtitled “The Simplest Way to Lose Weight”, has touched the right nerve of people i.e. given them a right approach to reduce weight. It simply affirms to get rid off all foods that are flour-based or contain added sugars.

The Book
Dr. Gott has infused the crux of his studies in No Flour No Sugar Diet and presented the fact that by eliminating flour and sugar from our diet, we can effectively reduce the amount of ‘empty’ calories from our diet. Many of the foods, like pizza and donuts, are based on refined carbohydrates and actually contain high amounts of fat. Foods with empty calories bring more fat to the body instead of nutrients. Such food is quickly burnt and processed in the body, making one feel hungry again.

As stated in dietary advice of recent years, refined carbohydrates are unhealthy and have little nutritive value. Despite of this, people intake too much of them and result is accumulation of fat in the body. The No Flour, No Sugar also addresses the value of exercising, just half an hour a day, for being fit. The whole concept is based on switching to healthy foods, which can provide better nutrients and make one feel healthier. If someone is desperately looking for a low-carb plan, this diet will definitely do wonders.

Though simple in its concept, the diet may not be simple in execution. Probably, that’s why, the author has devoted almost 80 pages to meal plans and recipes. This diet gives quite a broad choice of food that can be eaten, but in moderation. Such foods include whole grains (not whole grain flour), fruits, vegetables, dairy, poultry, meat, fish, and starches like potatoes and rice. The sugar restraint is a bit wide-ranging, since it is not only related to white sugar but also to honey, brown sugar, maple syrup, molasses, ketchup, etc. As regards flour, one can look for alternatives like barley, corn and quinoa.
