New Cars at Auto Expo 2008 - New Car Launches at Delhi Auto Expo 2008 India

With almost 30 new automobile launches set for Auto Expo 2008, the organizers of the most anticipated exhibition in Delhi are not leaving room for any lapse on their part. Right from Tata’s Rs. 1 lakh car to the ‘Touareg’ of Volkswagen and the concept car ‘A-Star’ of Maruti Suzuki, all are set to make a grand entry at the 9^th Auto Expo in 2008. The automobiles to be launched range from the luxury sedans to the compact cars segment and live upto the theme of the Auto Expo, “Mobility for All”. The exhibition is scheduled to be held from January 10^th to January 17^th.

First in line, that deserves to be mentioned, is the People’s Car by Tata Motors. Touted as the Rs. 1 lakh car, this compact car has generated much curiosity and excitement among critics, auto lovers and all those who are planning to buy a car in 2008. The concept car of Maruti-Suzuki, A-Star is also among the top contenders in the Auto Expo 2008. Maruti claims that this car is a global product, but will be produced in India only. Jazz, the compact car from Honda, is another strong contender in the Auto Expo. A crowd generator would be the sports utility vehicle Touareg that is being launched by Volkswagen.

It is said that Tata Motors and Fiat will have a joint participation in the exhibition and will display their vehicles in a pavilion spread over 5,200 square meters, touted to be the largest in the Auto Expo. Fiat will display the Grande Punto in that stall. The surprise entry in this exhibition is by India’s second largest two-wheeler maker, Bajaj. They are set to launch their first car, apparently a concept car, which will be priced between Rs. 2-5 lakhs. Not far behind is the MUV by Hyundai, Santa Fe, which is also amongst the most awaited cars of 2008. Hyundai may also display the “i20”, though it will be introduced in the market after sometime. Apart from sleek cars, commercial vehicles like buses, tempos and autos will also be showcased by different auto-makers.
