NDTV (New Delhi Television Ltd) has moved ahead of its adversaries by launching ‘NDTV Active’, the first full service mobile channel in India. The channel has been launched in collaboration with July Systems, a company dealing with the provision of mobile solutions for media, entertainment and sports brands. The mobile channel has been launched with the aim of providing a new and advanced way to the consumers, of interacting with the NDTV brand.
At the same time, they will be able to get information on the latest events, films, TV shows and so on, anytime and anywhere. The basic services provided by NDTV Active will include sharing content with friends, content downloads, business and entertainment news, first-of-its-kind personalized sports, comments, photo galleries, cricket scores, personalized alerts, interactive services like polls, ‘real-time’ video updates and much more.
The free services provided by NDTV Active will comprise of video alerts, which can be personalized by the users. With 209 million mobile connections (till 30th November) in India, NDTV Active is estimated to have a large subscriber base. The channel will be available to all the mobile service providers in the country. However, the charges for SMS and GPRS (to be used for availing the services) will differ from provider to provider.
The channel will be making use of the programming assets of NDTV for providing the services. NDTV Active has undergone a testing phase of around one month before being launched. The result is that customers will be provided with a multimedia mobile experience that can be totally personalized. NDTV has also planned to introduce more interactivity and services to the channel, over the next couple of months.
