MukhbirMukhbir is the new flicker released this Friday, which does not seem to impress the audience significantly. As the name suggests, the film is about a mukhbir (informer) and provides an insight into his life and events. As the story bears strong resemblance with Ram Gopal Verma's 'Contract', it lacks strongly on the freshness front. However, since the director Mani Shankar has tried to explore the subject to great depths, the movie is definitely watchable at places, but fails to hold the viewer for long.

The main reason behind the ineffectiveness of the film is its story and even the writing does not hold. Still, some sequences are really well taken. The film has a steady start, but stumbles halfway. The romantic element in the film, between Sammir and Raima, is not well worked upon. Moreover, flaws are even evident in the climax of the film, which appears to be a job executed in hurry. With this, it can be summed up to say that Mukhbir could have been an exhilarating experience, but does not manage to create the impact.

Talking of the merits, the cinematography and dialogues of the film are grabbing and appear natural. The lead actor, Sammir has proved his acting mettle and does full justice to his role. Paired with veteran actors, such as Om Puri, Sushant Singh and Alok Nath, he delivers a fine performance. Om Puri and Sushant Singh are remarkable, while Suniel Shetty fairs well. Alok Nath is impressive, while Jackie Shroff and Raima Sen are completely wasted. On the whole, Mukhbir stands a weak chance of wooing audience's hearts.

Mukhbir Pre-release Review
The love between bollywood and underworld does not seem to be coming to an end, at least in the near future. The latest director to focus on underworld is Mani Shankar, whose movie ‘Mukhbir’ is slated to be released on 1st August 2008. It has been produced by Sudhish Rambhotla and will be released under the banner of ‘Color Chips Entertainment & Media Limited’. Karthik Raja and Illayaraja have provided music for the movie, while P.K. Mishra is its lyricist.

The star cast of ‘Mukhbir’ has Sammir Dattani, Rahul Dev, Raima Sen, Alok Nath, Suniel Shetty, Om Puri, Sushant Singh, Raj Zutshi and Kelly Dorji. Jackie Shroff will be playing a guest appearance in the movie. The story of ‘Mukhbir’ revolves around the dark world of gangsters and their gangs. It promises to offer you another look into the stark realities of the underworld and show you how almost every decision in the society is influenced by it.

Sammir Dattani is a young guy who ends up being an informer (mukhbir) for the police. However, soon, he gets entangled in a web that is full of deceit, lies, violence and almost total disregard for the human life. Will Sammir be able to get out of this web unscathed or will he turn up as one of the unclaimed bodies in a government hospital. Mukhbir does seem to have potential. Whether it translates into box-office success or not still has to be seen.
