When the story of 'Morning Walk' was released, it seemed to be a movie dedicated to senior citizens and their discovering love once again in life. Had Director Arup Dutta kept the movie limited to this single track only, it might have impressed the audience. However, the numerous plots that have been included therein, right from the father-in-law and daughter-in-law strife to the youngster's love story to the oldies' reunion, turned the film into a complete dampener, taking away the emotional appeal altogether. On top of that, there is nothing in the movie that you have not seen before.
Though the basic concept of 'Morning Walk' was good, its translation into a script is extremely faulty. This is the reason why, in spite of excellent performances by almost all the actors, it failed to strike a chord with the audience. Anupan Kher and Sharmila Tagore, being the veterans that they are, have given one of their best performances till date. Avika Gor, the 'Balika Vadhu' girl, is cute and endearing. Divya Dutta and Rajat Kapoor, as expected, have given good performances. Even Shayan Munshi has shown an improvement. However, Nargis needs to get some acting classes. All in all, it's a passable affair!

The story of 'Morning Walk' revolves around the life of two elderly people, Joymohan (Anupam Kher) and Neelima (Sharmila Tagore) and how one morning walk changes it forever. On the morning on his birthday, Joymohan suffers from a heart attack. The incident makes him realize that life is so short and we need to make most of it. He decides to spend much more time with his family members, including his son (Rajit Kapoor), daughter-in-law (Divya Dutta) and grand-daughter (Avika Gor), mending the broken paths.
Joymohan also starts going on morning walk, on a daily basis, to maintain his health. One fine day, this walk changes the entire course of his life. He comes across Neelima (Sharmila Tagore), his once-upon-a-time-student and friend. She is now a mother of two and soon, Joymohan comes to know that one of them is his own daughter - Anjali (Nargis). Joymohan and Neelima were in a relationship years ago and the bright and beautiful Anjali was born after Joy went away from Neelima's life.
Anjali is an intelligent girl, who dreams to pursue her doctorate in the USA. Supporting her and encouraging her in the endeavor are her mother as well as her boyfriend Ajay (Shayan Munshi). Ajay is an upcoming singer, who can go to any lengths just to see a smile on Anjali's face. As the truth of Anjali's parentage comes out, we get to see a poignant and heart-tugging tale of two families, suddenly connected after a morning walk by the parents. Will the audience be able to connect to the families - so different, but linked through a special bond?
