Miss China, Zi Lin Zhang was crowned Miss World 2007 at a dazzling event held at Sanya, a popular tourist resort in Hainan province of China on December 1st 2007. Miss Angola, Micaela Reis was chosen the first runner up while Miss Carolina Morán of Mexico was declared the second runner up. Julia Morley, chairperson of the Miss World Organisation announced her name as the winner while Zi Lin Zhang was crowned by Tatana Kucharova, the winner of 2006 Miss World title.
The other two contestants in the last five of the beauty pageant were Valene Maharaj of Trinidad and Tobago and Annie Oliv of Sweden. One of the most watched entertainment events, this year’s pageant was the second largest edition after the Miss World 2003. In addition to the crown, Zhang also won the Miss World Top Model award. Miss Dominican Republic Ada Aimée de la Cruz was chosen Miss World Beach Beauty and Miss U S Abigail McCary the Miss World Sports while Miss Ghana Irene Dwomoh was declared the Miss World Talent.Zi Lin was born in Shi Jia Zhuang City in Hei Bei Province and presently works as a company secretary. She also holds a degree in Business Administration. Her hobbies and interests include travel, reading, watching movies, writing, dancing and listing to folk music. A firm believer in “Where there’s a will there’s a way”, Zi Lin Zhang likes ice cream, chocolates and fruits.
