Love Aaj Kal Are you ready to fall in love with the 'very concept of love'? If yes, then 'Love Aaj Kal' is surely the movie for you! The best part of the romantic flick is that unlike the run-of-the-mills Bollywood love sagas, young director Imtiaz Ali's 'Love Aaj Kal' is completely in sync with the modern Indian society. The director has taken a more realistic approach in this film, unlike the usual love stories seen in Bollywood. In the movie, the main protagonist of the 2009-love story do not make you feel bored with the mundane talks of love and heartache; rather give you a mirror image of the present day urbane youth.

Through 'Love Aaj Kal', Imtiaz Ali has presented yet another example of his directorial excellence - the use of simple, short and crisp dialogues, with complete focus on the characters. The two stories - of Jai and Meera, Veer Singh and Harleen Kaur, are set in two different eras - the former being set in 2009 and latter in 1965. Having similar ends, the stories run parallel to each other, making the audience take some time to grasp the plot. Nonetheless, the complex, but comprehensive, screenplay has helped the director a great deal in keeping his audience hooked to the movie, right from the beginning to the very end.

'Love Aaj Kal' also scores on its lush locations. You can catch a glimpse of the picturesque beauty of London and San Francisco mainly in the first half. The second half would make you feel at home, through its scenes shot at the streets of 'saddi Dilli'! The plot would definitely click the minds of modern urban youth. At the same, it has something for people living with old school of thoughts as well, because by the end, Jai realizes that he is not too different from the Veer Singh of 1960s, who lived out the typical Heer-Ranjha love story, in his era.

The music by Pritam is another highlight of the movie. Talking about the performances, both Saif Ali Khan and Deepika Padukone mesmerize the audience with their sensitive performances. Each of them beautifully lives the characters, to create an impact in the minds of the people watching their chemistry on-screen. Rishi Kapoor and Rahul Khanna have backed the lead protagonists well. Our final verdict - 'Love Aaj Kal' would make you love your loved ones all the more immensely. The movie is truly a 'paisa vasool'.

Love Aaj Kal Pre-release Review
It has been quite sometime since we got to watch a hardcore romance flick on-screen. Breaking the impasse is Imtiaz Ali's next directorial venture 'Love Aaj Kal', produced by Dinesh Vijan and Saif Ali Khan. Based on the concept of love, as it was in the past (kal) and as it is in the present (aaj), the movie boasts of names like Saif Ali Khan, Deepika Padukone, Neetu Singh, Rishi Kapoor, Rahul Khanna and Vir Das, in its star cast.

The music for 'Love Aaj Kal, has been provided by Pritam, while Irshad Kamil is the lyricist. The romantic flick will hit theaters across India on 31st July 2009, under the banner 'Eros International'. A part of the shooting for the movie took place in Delhi and you can hope to see Lal Quila (Red Fort), Purana Qila (Old Fort) and the streets of the capital city on-screen. As to the rest of the movie, get ready to witness views of Kolkata, apart from London & San Francisco.

Love Aaj
The 'Aaj' (present) part of 'Love Aaj Kal' is based in the year 2009 and takes us across the cities of London, San Francisco and Delhi. We get a peek into the life of Jai (Saif Ali Khan) and Meera (Deepika Padukone). They make a contemporary couple, living in London. They love each other and are leading a happy life. One fine day, they find their life being pulled in different directions. Not a couple who believes in tying each other down, they decide to go with the flow and let things take their course. They live life by practical rules - Love Aaj!

Love Kal
Now, let us come down to the 'Kal' (past) of 'Love Aaj Kal'. We go back to the year 1965 and see a love story based in Delhi and Kolkata (then Calcutta). Here, we have Veer Singh (Saif Ali Khan), a guy who falls head over heels in love with Harleen Kaur (Deepika Padukone). Not much time later, he is seen standing under a tree and swearing that in this life as well as all the afterlives that he has, Harleen will be his wife. He covers a journey of 1000 km by train, just to have a glimpse of Harleen, standing under her balcony. This is Love Kal!

Love Aaj Kal
Now, the 'Kal' of love meets the 'Aaj' and we get to see two types of love, each beautiful in its own right. While Veer is not able to understand the 'practical' approach of Jai, the latter cannot comprehend how Veer can be so emotional and completely guided by heart. Through their love stories, we come to realize that though the process of relationship changes with the changing time, the basic essence remains the same. As the distance between people grows, the fondness grows as well. With the widening gap, new bridges form automatically!
