Louis Vuitton, the leading French luxury fashion and leather goods brand and company has made known its decision to open an exclusive store in Bangalore in 2008. This Louis Vuitton store will be set at the upcoming retail project, UB City -The Collection in Bangalore and will be followed by some more at Mumbai and New Delhi.   

 

The French company, which manufactures luxury leather goods, fashion accessories, pret-a-porter and jewellery is eyeing India as a fast developing market for luxury items. Company executives stated that though the market in India had not matured enough for Louis Vuitton even just five years ago, the association between the brand and India is some 150 years old.

Louis Vuitton’s clientele in Indian earlier comprised the nobility and Maharajas of princely states like Baroda, Bikaner and Kashmir. The company used to provide special-made-to-order cabinet trunks to the royalty in the country. However, the cost of various Louis Vuitton products like handbags, suitcases, textiles, etc. will be little higher than elsewhere in the world because of taxes.
