Often heard the quote "Never judge a book by its cover", but sometimes we do judge and the judgment Life Partner Reviewcomes out to be correct. Similar is the case with Rumy Jafferey's so-called "comedy flick" Life Partner. The movie title and its star cast made it already clear that it’s a deliberate attempt to rehash life-after-marriage drama. As expected, Life Partner is just another movie which has neither innovative concept, nor outstanding casting. However, a few gags are entertaining enough to make you laugh for a while. But yes, it can be called irksome comedy. The story is spun around the lives of two couples - one believing in love marriage and the other believing in arranged.

Karan (Fardeen Khan) and Sanjana (Genelia), who are madly in love with each other, get married to know that all marriages (both love and arranged) are same. Bhavesh (Tusshar Kapoor) finds his dream-girl in Prachi (Prachi Desai), who also comes with the family approval tag. After marriage Sanjana enjoys partying herself, while the audience feel as poor as Karan. Her constant nagging leaves Karan, merely a tortured husband. On the other hand, Prachi comes into a conservative family where traditions get ruined if she has separate TV in her bedroom.

All of a sudden in the second part of the movie, the plot requires to be fed with a divorce and thus, the life partners took the help of an accomplished divorce lawyer Jeet (Govinda). Up till now, the viewers could have understood the slow pace of the screenplay, but the climax is surprisingly swift in which couples reunion is shown in hardly any time. Another hurried sequence put an item-girl (Amrita Rao), who steals the heart of unromantic Jeet in next to no time, and the couple finds respite in marriage. The humour of the film is quite unexciting and calculating, which make you foresee each sequence before it’s actually played onscreen.

Rumy Jaffery has not done anything exceptional and the story comes out to be mundane and not-so-appealing. However, to keep the brand image of comedy, the movie is fastened with few comical scenes in the initial part. Music is quite okay, if compared to the plot. Most of the actors have performed just satisfactory, and no one can be claimed to fetch the limelight. To sum up, Life Partner lacks the buzz but still the movie manages to keep the background rich with beautiful locales. Since the movie is being released on the verge of a longer weekend, it might get crowds to the multiplexes.

Life Partner Pre-release Review

One look at the star cast of 'Life Partner' and you do not have to read the genre, to know that it will be a laugh riot! Why? Tusshar Kapoor and Govinda playing two of the three male leads, along with Fardeen Khan thrown in - do you need more hints? Supporting the male stars are Genelia D'Souza and Prachi Desai (as female leads), apart from Anupam Kher, Vikram Gokhale, Darshan Jariwala, Shoma Anand, Rajesh Jais, Sheetal Gori, Master Ali, Vivek Shauq, Jagdeep, Rana Jung Bahadur, and Himani Shivpuri.

Produced by the famous director duo Abbas-Mustan, 'Life Partner' takes you to the swish locales of South Africa and promises to make you laugh till you drop. It has been directed by Rumi Jaffrey, with Pritam and Sachin-Jigar being the music providers. The lyrics have been provided by Javed Akhtar and Kumaar. The movie will be released on 14th August 2009, under the banner 'Burmawala Bros' and 'Studio 18'. A full-on comedy flick, it deals with the concept of a ‘life partner’ and how it is interpreted by different people.

'Life Partner' revolves around the life of three friends - Karan (Fardeen Khan), Bhavesh (Tusshar Kapoor), and Jeet (Govinda). Karan has a girlfriend Sanjana (Genelia D’Souza), whom he is madly in love with. Marriage seems to be the next logical step in their relationship, which will cement it further. But, is ‘love marriage’ the right step? This is an answer that they will have to find for themselves. Bhavesh (Tusshar Kapoor) is a simple guy, for whom life partner means someone who has the approval of his family.

Bhavesh meets Prachi (Prachi Desai). Now, he has to grapple with the question, is ‘arranged marriage’ meant for him? He is not able to decide whether it is right to prioritize family over marriage? Does he want Prachi to prove herself a worthy daughter-in-law, in order to meet the criteria of the perfect wife? Jeet (Govinda) is a divorce lawyer, for whom marriage has no meaning. In fact, more often than not, he is responsible for his client's divorce. He finding monogamy boring and follows 'no marriage' policy. Is he right in not accepting matrimony? 'Life Partner' tries to explore all the aspects related to marriage and companionship.
