With its ultra small form factor, the elegantly built ThinkCentre A61e is the smallest desktop introduced in the market by Lenovo. Starting at a price of Rs 15,800 ($399), this Lenovo model is believed to be the smallest and the most energy efficient desktop till date. The PC runs on 45 watt AMD Athlon 64 x 2 dual core and AMD Sempron single core processors. This makes the energy consumption of the ThinkCentre A61e significantly low as compared to other available models.
This Lenovo model weighs only 8 pounds and can even be powered by a solar panel. This desktop also uses about 90% recyclable products and reusable packaging, which makes it the first of Lenovo products with the prestigious EPEAT Gold Status. Apart from its advantageous size and weight, the ThinkCentre A61e also comes with comparatively quiet acoustics, with its single low speed fan. It keeps the PC cool as well as quiet, both in the idle mode and also when it is operated for long hours.
With its small 8-lb chassis, the computer can also be assembled and disassembled quite easily and quickly, thus saving various labor costs while upgrading and other fix-ups. The worldwide shipments of the ultra small form-factor desktop are forecasted to grow by 52 percent between 2005 and 2010. Thus, with its compact size, reduced energy costs and futuristic approach; the product is going to be a boon for large organizations and enterprises.
