Koutons, the name to reckon with in men’s apparel, is planning to enter women’s and kids’ wear segment soon. In an attempt to strengthen its margins, Koutons Retail India has planned to take up this initiative all across India very soon. The children’s and women’s wear will be launched under different brand names. This move, though is aimed at making its presence felt on a much wider scale, will be difficult given the fierce competition and industry growth at a furious pace.
Koutons started off in New Delhi way back in the year 1991 functioning under the name of Charlie Creations. That time, it specialized in selling denim wear mostly. After much struggle to make its mark, it finally got noticed in the year 2001 under the brand name of Koutons. This brand has been in news many times for the crowd it pulls owing to its heavy discounts, free gifts and creative advertising.
The growth of this brand is truly commendable and with plans to open up more retail stores across India, Koutons is hoping to touch the 1000th store milestone by end of 2008. Recently it was announced that Koutons is planning to open up at least 140 stores across India in the near future. The momentum at which it is spreading its growth shows that it is definitely going to emerge as a winner in women’s and kids’ wear.
