Keep Off The Grass

Karan Bajaj is a consultant in the field of management for the Boston Consulting Group (BCG) and is based in Washington D.C. His first novel Keep off the Grass has already garnered some rave reviews and is looking all set to be a best-seller.

The Book
'Keep off the Grass' is probably the most eagerly and highly-anticipated book of the year 2008. It was released in India on May 30th, 2008. At the beginning, the novel seems like just another campus book providing the author's background which makes one believe that this book doesn't have quite that much to offer to the readers. The main character or the protagonist of the novel is an investment banker and is living in the USA. Samrat is his name; and he leaves his plush office and spacious apartment in New York and comes to India, and makes his way through the potholed roads and mind-boggling never ending traffic of Bangalore. He is on his way to acquire an MBA Degree from the Indian Institute of Management-Bangalore.

But this is just the starting part of the actual fun that is yet to come in the latter chapters. From here, the real story begins; a story of how Samrat finds himself on a journey across India. This book deals with some serious problems as well as provides a hilarious look at some of the most followed practices in the country today. It also shows the unexplainable behavior of the people. A good thing about the novel is that the author does not pretend anything; he writes from his heart and writes the absolute truth.

Does Samrat - the investment banker, convict, drug addict, survive to tell his tale to others? You need to read this hilarious, yet self-examining debut novel, 'Keep off the Grass' to know more. One should go for this novel if he/ she loves to have a few good laughs and enjoys a great story as well.
